Sixt Mexico Rental Terms for travel between 21-Nov-2014 and 31-Dec-2019

General Rental Information

The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
Drivers also need an international driver's licence.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving licence.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.

Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates

Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of USD 26.80. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
(Rebooking = RF)
A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Age Restrictions

Minimum age in Mexico is 21.

Driver has to be in possession of a valid driving license for at least 2 years.
A Young Driver Surcharge of 9.28 USD per day applies for drivers under 25 years.
Maximum age in Mexico is 75.

Conditions of Payment

Flexi Tariff

All major international Credit Cards - such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard and Visa - are accepted.
Credit Cards will be accepted only with the name of the card holder imprinted on the card.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
Cash Payment is not accepted.

Prepaid Tariff

The following credit cards are accepted: American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard and Visa. We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the startof rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.


An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.
If LDW insurance is declined a higher deposit of up to 4,000 USD may be taken from the credit card.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

General Insurance Conditions

Third Party Insurance (TI)

Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of MXN 350.000,00. for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
(Third Party Liability = TI)

Liability coverage/Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

If purchased Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) protects you against claims made by a third party for -bodily injury- and/or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while you are operating a -rental vehicle-.
This coverage supplies Renter with third-party liability protection up to a limit of 4,000,000.- MXN per accident.
Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) does not cover all situations that may arise while operating a -rental vehicle-. SLI does not cover all risks. There may be exclusions for unauthorized or intoxicated drivers, no first party uninsured motorist coverage, no coverage for certain passengers in the Vehicle, and other exclusions.
The cost of Supplemental Liability Insurance is as follows: 11,60 USD/day.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

Loss Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft. 
The cost of LDW is as follows: see table
If LDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car, and as a security measure, a higher amount (up to 70,000 MXN) on the customer's credit card will be blocked. Having occured an accident, Sixt Mexico will charge the whole amount of the damage to the client's credit card. In case the client has an protection with an external party he the client needs to directhis claim to the external party he has protection with.

If LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 10% of the value of the car

Personal Accident Protection (PAP)

Personal Accident Protection provides cover against the consequences of an accident.
The cost of PAP is as follows: see table
Personal Accident Protection covers the customer and/or Authorized Driver and each passenger up to the legal passenger capacity of the vehicle for medical expenses, hospitalization and ambulance expenses, resulting from an accident. PAP includes up to a total of $ 40,000.00 Mexican Pesos per person. The total sum covered with the PAP goes up to 200,000.00 per vehicle.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

Cross Border Rentals are on request only in the north borderline allowed and prohibity for the south. Please contact the local rental station.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.

Mexico City Restrictions

It is not allowed to travel to Mexico City if the car is rented outside of federal State of Mexico.

Premium Location Fee

A Premium Location Surcharge of 14% per rental is charged at locations of special interest. Those are airports and some city locations.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
