Budget Mexico Rental Terms for travel between 26-Sep-2016 and 31-Dec-2024

An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard.
The balance is to be paid directly to the supplier on arrival.

Age Information
The minimum age is 18.  The maximum age is 70.  An underage fee of 100.00 MEP per day will apply for renters 18-24.  Young drivers should contact counter directly for full details.


Additional Drivers
All drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver’s license requirements as the renter.  The additional driver charge is 95.00 MEP per day for each additional driver.  A young driver fee will also apply for drivers 18-24 years of age.

Credit Card Hold: All rentals require a deposit in the amount of the estimated total plus damage responsibility to be held as a deposit on the credit card at the time of rental. The rate of exchange at the time of credit card billing will apply. 

Cash Rentals are not allowed.
Travel Vouchers are not accepted.
Debit Cards are not accepted.


Taking your vehicle outside the Country
Travel to other countries is not allowed.  Note: All locations in Mexico allow cars on the ferry only to travel to Cozumel.  Check upon arrival for details.


Waiver and Protection Options
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Purchase of CDW is optional and reduces the customer’s financial responsibility for damage to the vehicle.  The customer’s responsibility in case of accident or theft with the purchase of CDW is a minimum of 1,000 MXN, not to exceed 4,679.00 MXN.  If the value of damages is less than the deductible the customer will pay for the vehicle repair. Theft, vandalism or damage to parts and accessories are not covered.  
If declined, the customer is responsible for up to the full value of the vehicle.
Other coverages may be available, check at the counter upon arrival availability and details.


Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
Property damage/public liability coverage of up to 750,000.00 Mexican Peso (MEP) in basic third party liability protection is included with the rental in accordance with the local insurance laws of the country.  Optional SLI will be offered at the time of rental. If SLI is declined, an additional hold of up to 2,500.00 USD will be placed on the customers’ credit card.  Cost may vary depending on car group rented and location of rental.


Personal Accident Coverage (PAE/PAC)
Purchase provides medical assistance up to 200,000.00 MEP expense benefits to the renter and all passengers in the car.  


Fuel Charges
At the end of the rental the vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as it was rented with or fuel charges will apply.  Refueling is taxable.


Delivery and Collection
Available in:
    • Cabo San Lucas (SD6, S9J, H4B) – office will pick-up or deliver at no extra charge, customer must call at least one hour in advance.
    • Cancun  (CU1) – to hotels in the Hotel Zone
    • La Paz (LAP) – office will pick-up and deliver at no extra charge.  Customer must call at least one hour in advance.
    • San Jose Del Cabo (SZ6, SZ9) – office will pick-up or deliver at no extra charge.  Customer must call at least one hour in advance.


No-Show/Cancellation Policy
Not available.

Special Equipment
Child Safety/Booster Seats – can be confirmed at a cost of 102.00 MEP per day (Subject to availability.)  They are available for counter sale ONLY in: Cancun,  Cuatitlan, Guadalajara, Merida, Mexico City, Monterey and Playa del Carmen.  An advance reservation of 24 hours is recommended.
Navigation Systems – are available at a cost of 255.00 MEP per day.  They are available for counter sale ONLY in: Cancun, Cuatitlan, Guadalajara, Merida, Mexico City, Monterey and Playa del Carmen.  An advance reservation of 24 hours is recommended.
Other equipment may be available.  Check with counter for additional details and availability.


Emergency road service is available at all locations.


Mexico City locations – Local laws require that vehicles may only be driven six days a week.  Off days for each vehicle are determined by license plate numbers.  A rental car may need to be exchanged at the office for another allowed to be driven that day.

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
