Alamo Mexico Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2019

Payment
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard (transaction fee of 1.95% applies).

The balance, along with any applicable vehicle security bond, will be secured directly by the supplier on your arrival. 

Cancellation
In the event of cancellation, the initial deposit paid remains non-refundable.

Additional Driver Policy

Additional driver charge is $5.00 USD per day.

Age Requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.Maximum rental age is 75 years.Young Driver Surcharge is $20.00 USD per day per driver for drivers ages 21-24.

Cross Border Policy
The Republic of Mexico only - Rentals originating from Tijuana, Mexicali, Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua Hermosillo and Monterrey are permitted to cross border. Customer must purchase liability insurance at $12.95 USD per day.

Delivery / Collection
Delivery and collection are not available. Free pick-up and drop-off up to 3 miles from rental location.For pick-up and drop-off between 3-15 miles from rental location a $20 USD fee is applicable.There is no pick-up and drop-off beyond 15 mile distance from rental location. Free pick-up and drop-off to/from all on-airport locations within the Republic of Mexico. Customers must pre-arrange with the rental station once the customer is in the city of rental. For additional information on pick up location contact Carla Meza Phone Number 01 800 849 8001 reservaciones@alamorentacar.com.mx.However, in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, pick-up and drop-off is restricted in many hotels. See pick-up procedure for these 2 cities for more details. Alamo must be notified in advance for all pick-up and drop-offs and customers must call the rental station upon arrival.

Insurance Excess
Collision Damage Waiver & Theft Waiver limits the customers' financial responsibility for loss, damage or theft of the rental vehicle. The maximum excess that is payable in the event of one of these incidents is 10 % of the total value of the vehicle. The maximum excess will vary depending on the vehicle you are renting, please ask at time of rental for further information on which excess applies. If you would like to reduce or remove your excess responsibility please ask the rental staff when collecting your vehicle about additional products that are on offer .

License Requirements
Full and valid driver's license from country of origin is required. Mexico City (MEX) has a law that restricts driving vehicles in the city one day of the week, plus one Saturday a month.The restriction is based on the last digit of the vehicles' license plate number. Drivers are subject to a fine (and possible vehicle impoundment) if driving on a day which such vehicle is restricted from circulating the city.Alamo vehicles rented in MEX have a sticker which exempts them from this law. In addition, the law was recently extended to ban vehicles from another city, from driving in MEX between 5:00am and 11:00am Monday-Friday. A customer renting a vehicle outside MEX and planning to drive into MEX should notify the rental agent to obtain more details and plan accordingly.

One Way Rentals
All one way rentals must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. One way charges apply, payable at time of rental.One way charges cannot be prepaid.Refer to One Way drop chart.

Out of Hours Policy
Rental location MUST be notified of after hours return at time of rental.Customer will be given instructions on returning vehicle during after hours.For Cancun, Merida & Playa del Carmen, see attached procedure.

Payment Policy
Passport, return ticket and major credit card required for identification. Acceptable methods of payment are: American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Eurocard. XOTTO/OTTO vouchers accepted. Must have pre-approved credit. Cash, Diners Club and MCO's are not accepted at any location. A minimum authorization of $400 USD or the total estimated charges plus 30%, whichever is greater will be placed on customers' credit card at time of rental. This authorization amount may be used toward damage or late charges in the event vehicle is returned with damage and insurance was not purchased and/or late charges are assessed. Maximum rental is 30 days.

Refuelling Policy
Pick up and return full or surcharge of 40% will apply.

Roadside Assistance
For Roadside Assistance customer must complete a police report at time of accident and must report accident to nearest Alamo office or the following number: 01 800 849 8001. Client must report any damage/theft to Alamo office immediately. Client can also contact Toll Free Headquarters line within Mexico 01-800-849-8001 or Mexico D.F. Airport (Open 24 hours) 57-86-8088. If dialing outside Mexico City must add (01-55) to the 24 hr phone number.

Special Equipment
Infant seat is available at a cost of $5.00 per day.GPS is available on request at PVRT71 at $5.00 per day.

Surcharges
Airport Fee is 10% at all locations.

Tax
Tax is 11% in San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Ciudad Juarez, Cozumel, La Paz, Loreto, Mexicali and Playa del Carmen Tulum and Tijuana.Tax is 16% in the rest of Mexico. Contracted rates may include the State tax. Refer to the rate sheet.

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website. Please note that a 1.95% credit card or debit card surcharge will be added when your payment is processed.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
